That's the thing about going abroad...it doesn't matter that our family and friends might not understand everything we have gone through. We understand it. It was our journey. Coming home isn't the end--it's the beginning.

I proceeded to inform him about our mission at Black Beyond Borders to promote the expansion of black faces abroad and international experiences for African American students. He believed this was a terrific idea, but I still questioned what he would do to address the issue.
