Black Beyond Borders Internship Program

aBout the BBB Internship program

The Black Beyond Borders Internship Program is one of our newest BBB offerings! As a nine-week long leadership program, students interested in travel accessibility and equity will have an opportunity to build understanding about meaningful travel, construct travel literacy, and engage closely with a global network of Black travelers.

You, the Black traveler advocate, play a critical role in not only expanding the brand of Black Beyond Borders, but also sharing the adventures of Black travelers that often go untold. It is expected that you will advocate and encourage other students of the African diaspora to study and travel abroad. Additionally, this program will ensure that you think critically about your Black global identity, increase the Black traveler network at your home institution, and advance your communication and creativity skills.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen personal development and cultural competency skills

  • Enhance leadership development skills

  • Expand professional networks abroad

  • Develop written and oral communication skills

Our Approach: IV cyclical phases of BBB

  • Phase I – Educate: Educating communities about global and local cultural differences, affordable travel and professional opportunities abroad, traveler preparedness, and tools necessary to go beyond borders.

  • Phase II – Empower: Empowering communities to be comfortable and confident in their identity, while maintaining an open-mind when navigating diverse settings.

  • Phase III – Expose: Exposing communities to cultures outside of their borders through tangible experiences.

  • Phase IV – Evolve: Evolving communities through progressive education, empowerment, and exposure that will globally change the understanding of young leaders.
